Yo-Yo Ma

“He may be the greatest cellist in the world and, some would argue, the greatest cellist ever.”—The Washington Post

For the sold-out commemorative concert February 1st, Hodgson Concert Hall welcomes a singular citizen of the world, Yo-Yo-Ma.

Yo-Yo Ma is more than a cellist. He is an evangelist for music - not just Western classical, but folk and styles that fall within and between other genres.

Yo-Yo Ma’s multifaceted career is a testament to his belief in culture’s power to generate trust and understanding. Whether performing new or familiar works for cello, bringing communities together to explore culture’s role in society, or engaging unexpected musical forms, he strives to foster connections that stimulate the imagination and reinforce our humanity.
