UGA Presents
Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is comprised of 15 of the finest jazz musicians in America. This remarkably versatile band performs in venues around the world and with an ever-expanding roster of guest artists and symphony orchestras. Led by Music Director Wynton Marsalis, the ensemble maintains a vast repertoire, from rare historic compositions to new commissions.

When Liberia reached its centennial in 1947, the West African nation commissioned music from Duke Ellington. Valentine's Day and February 15th, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis revisit Ellington's African connections at Hodgson Concert Hall with a program called Duke in Africa - celebrating Ellington’s Africa-related compositions and the spirit of his historic trip, nearly 60 years later.

This is the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra's final Athens appearance with Marsalis as music director. For tickets, visit PAC.UGA.EDU or call the box office at (706) 542-4400.
