This week is National Health Center Week and a local facility is marking the occasion by opening its doors to the general public at the all day Tuesday.
The Athens Neighborhood Health Center is welcoming members of the community to an open house today. The federally-qualified center provides primary and preventative health care services. Health Plan Navigator Harold Webber says it offers the public a look at the services provided.
“We’ll have refreshments but we’ll also offer tours of the facility, information concerning what we do in more detail, and we’ll also have blood pressure checks, BMI cheeks, things of that nature,” Webber said. “So it’s a way to allow the community to get to know us a little bit better.”
The open house run until 6:30 this evening. Tuesday’s open house is at the location at 675 College Center. A similar event takes place Thursday at the eastside location on McKinley Drive from 9 am until 4:30 pm.
