Gas Prices on the Decline in Georgia and Elsewhere

The price of gas is going down in Georgia. According to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 5,883 gas outlets in the state, prices have fallen 3 cents per gallon to an average of $2.68, nationally gas prices are down nearly five cents per gallon to an average of $2.60. Even with the recent decrease, prices are 35 cents higher per gallon than the same day a year ago and 50 cents higher than a month ago.

As a result of the 1-2 punch of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Triple A Auto Club reports gas prices hit a three-year high last week, with states in the southeast seeing the biggest hikes. At 50 cents, the company reports Georgia had the highest monthly increase in the nation in September, followed by Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.
