Gas Prices Higher This Thanksgiving Holiday Season Compared to Last

Nearly 46 million Americans are hitting the road this Thanksgiving and they’ll be traveling more than 50 miles away from home by car.  They will also find the most expensive gas prices for the holiday in three years. According to Triple A Auto Club, the average price for regular gas in Georgia is $2.39, 30 cents more than Thanksgiving Day 2016.

After jumping three weeks ago, motorists can be thankful to see that prices at the pump are beginning to decrease. Prices in Georgia have dropped two cents during the last three days. The discount comes as the U.S. Government reported a weekly increase in crude and gasoline inventories, and growth in domestic oil production. Motorists can find gas for $2.50 or less at more than half of the gas stations in the country. The average gas price in Athens is $2.39 compared to $2.12 a year ago.
