UGA Fall 2017 Commencement

More than 2800 bulldogs are joining the ranks of UGA alumni today. 1,700 plus undergraduates and 1,100 grad students were eligible to walk in this year’s fall commencement ceremonies. Ahzuree Herbert graduated with degrees in Biology and Psychology during today’s undergrad ceremony in Stegeman Coliseum.

“It’s really, it’s really exciting,” Herbert said. “It doesn’t really feel real, I feel like I’m dreaming right now, but it’s great.”

She says she will miss her UGA community.

“Even though UGA is a big campus, it kind of has the little pockets of people that have the same major so you still feel kind of that homey feeling within a large campus, and you can also enjoy large campus going downtown, going to movies and everything like that.”

Her first step? Getting that first job.

“Right now I’m still on the job market, I’m looking for something like a lab tech. I’m really interested in genetics and I hope to go on to a Master’s program later on.”

Her good friend Brendon Mack graduated in May of this year and has some advice for the new grad.

“Never stop learning, never lose the passion for learning, no matter where you go and what you do,” Mack said. “And don’t forget to have fun.”
