The Athens Regional Library is seeking additional donations to help area teens go to prom. The facility is hosting its first ever “Bling Your Prom,” event. The library is collecting prom outfits and accessories for area teens. The first-come, first-served event will allow teens to pick out one outfit, either a dress or suit, and accessories including jewelry and shoes. Rhiannon Eades is Public Information Officer for the library.
“So there’s still time to go through your closet and find those prom dresses, or bridesmaid dresses or men’s ties that you don’t need anymore,” Eades said. “We’re looking for gently used formal wear for girls and guys. Also things like dress shoes, accessories, jewelry, new and unused cosmetics.”
Eades says larger dress sizes and men’s shoes are particularly needed. Donations are being accepted until Monday, February 26th. Bling your Prom is Saturday, March 3rd from 10 am until 2 pm.
