UGA Police Investigating Reported Attempted Abduction

The University of Georgia Police Department is warning of a report of an attempted kidnapping. Police say that around 2 o’ clock this morning, an acquaintance of the victim called police and reported that about 30 minutes earlier, the victim had been walking back to her vehicle in the area of Thomas Street and Broad street near the “Triangle parking lot” on Broad and Oconee Street when an unknown individual grabbed her around the waist from behind.

The report states the victim saw a dark colored vehicle with an open door and a driver inside. She believed the individual was possibly attempting to drag her to the vehicle. When she physically resisted, the suspect let her go and ran to the vehicle, which then drove away from the scene. The victim received several scratches during the incident.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the UGA Police Department at 9-1-1 or 706-542-2200.
