Athens Neighborhood Health Center to Host Open Houses

athensneighborhoodhealth.com

Athens Neighborhood Health Center is welcoming members of the community to attend two Open Houses the facility is hosting. They are part of events taking place during national Health Center Week August 13 through 18. Harold Webber is a navigator and Outreach Coordinator with the center. He says more than 27 million Americans receive treatment at health centers.

“Here in Athens we service over 8,000 patients, 23,00 visits per year, so the impact here in Athens is really very significant,” according to Webber. “Those patients, 90-plus percent of them, would not have access to have health care at all if it were not for Athens Neighborhood Health Center.”

There are two health center locations in Athens, one at 675 College Avenue and the other at 402 McKinley Drive. Jennifer Richardson is Director of Marketing and Research.

“We really want to highlight both facilities for the community, and especially with our McKinley location,” Richardson said “We are doing some renovation and we will be opening up our new pharmacy. We have a 340B program…what that means is we get medication at a low cost and we able ale to then give that to our patients at a low cost.”
