Deadline to Apply for AthFest Educates Board Thursday

Time is winding down for applicants interested in serving on the board of an Athens nonprofit. Candidates have until tomorrow to apply for a position on the AthFest Educates Board. Michelle Davis is chair of the organization’s Governance Committee. She says they are looking for someone to fill the 2019-2022 term.

“We are looking for someone with a little bit of experience,” Davis says, “someone who can hit the ground running, someone who, in terms of their skill-set, has maybe served on another non-profit board or has served in executive-level positions, someone who maybe has experience working in public education serving underprivileged youth. Passion for those areas would be a great asset as well.”

Davis says that in addition to reaching out to the community on behalf of the AthFest Educates Board, members have the opportunity to serve the community in ways that speak to their own interests.

“And then we have several committees, as most boards do, that branch off into specific areas of interest, Davis says.

These committees include a fundraising committee, a committee for giving grants to local schools, and a committee for the AthFest Music Festival. The new member will be asked to serve on at least one committee.

Those interested are asked to send a resume and statement of interest to Michelle Davis at governance@athfesteducates.org by Sept. 6, 2018
