Georgia Power customers will see another $25 credit on their bills this month as a result of the Vogtle nuclear plant expansion.
Overall, $188 million was approved to be distributed in three separate payments to customers, with the previous payments applied in April and July.
The payments are part of a contract for constructing the Vogtle 3 and 4 nuclear power plants near Augusta, the nation’s only new nuclear units under construction.
An agreement for guarantee payments by Toshiba for the plant included the $75 credits, attributed to “the strength of the original contract for the project and protections in place for Georgia electric customers” in a press release.
Plant Vogtle Units 1 and 2 have been in operation since 1987 and 1989, respectively.
