This Giving Tuesday saw four million Americans donating some $380 million dollars, that figure pushes the grass-roots based movement fundraising total past the billion-dollar mark. Several Athens-area charities received funds from generous benefactors, including Extra Special People.

"So it was definitely a record-breaking year for us,” we recently just launched our dream for a miracle league field, which is a full accessible rubberized turf field so that every kid has the opportunity to play baseball so our individuals at ESP who are in wheelchairs or have mobility challenges will have the opportunity.
The group had hoped to raise $10,000 on Tuesday with a year-end goal of $50,000.
“This Giving Tuesday was all about lighting up our league. Our goal was to pay for a part of the lights so we could use the field even when it gets dark. We raised a little over $22,000.”
The entire project is estimated to cost $1.4 million. ESP has raised over $500,000 of that so far.
