The Clarke County School District will continue to provide free lunches to Clarke County children throughout the summer. According to a release from the district, the Athens Housing Authority’s decision to end its long-time sponsorship of the program will not impact meal services for students.
The District, which had previously served as the vendor for meals sponsored by the AHA during the summer, will take over responsibilities that were previously managed by the AHA.
The release states the district wants to assure the community that all children will have access to free lunch during the summer. More details on locations and hours will be shared in the next couple of months.
