Residents on Athens east side are breathing a bit easier after suspects wanted for nearly 60 felonies are behind bars.

That's according to Geof Gilland, Public Information Officer with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. He says the department has arrested Terique Eberhart, Raydreone Howard and Tyreek Thomas in connection with a string of armed robberies and other crimes. They include multiple counts of Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Motor Vehicle Theft and Entering Auto.
“We’re very appreciative of the hard work and the long hours that our detectives put forth. It’s like putting together a puzzle, you take one piece of information and you connect to another and then you connect it to another.”
Gilland says police believe the trio started with two Armed Robberies in the early morning of January 8, robbing a Golden Pantry and the Choo Choo restaurant. They are also believed to have stolen a vehicle from a nearby apartment complex among other crimes.
“We’re just grateful that members of the public gave us assistance, provided us tips, and the assistance we received from the public really helped take these criminals of the streets.”
There are other similar incidents which occurred during this same time frame that ACCPD detectives are continuing to investigate and additional charges are likely for these individuals. Eberhart, Howard, and Thomas are in custody at the Clarke County Jail.
