AADM to Hold 'She Strut For Justice' Tour

Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement

The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is launching the She Strut For Justice tour this week. Organizers are calling the unique effort to encourage voter turnout a seven-city empowerment tour.

AADM President and co-founder Mokah- Jasmine Johnson will host the tour which will combine public discussion, fashion show and the arts.

“She Strut For Justice is starting February 28, and it’s going to go throughout 2019, up until the end of the year,” Johnson said. “I’ll be in and out of Athens and the goal is to encourage people to vote in an unconventional way. It incorporates a fashion show and we also have a mini discussion after the presentation with the audience.”

Johnson says she wants to teach attendees how to make a difference in their communities and raise awareness about the importance of voting.

“It’s basically to educate people about issues that matter and why it’s important to vote and just trying to motivate people to get up and get out and vote; and preparing for 2020.”

Johnson will be joined by special guest Tabitha Johnson-Greene, the 2018 democratic challenger for the 10th Congressional District.

The tour will kick off at Hendershots Coffee in Athens, Thursday, February 28th from 6 to 9 pm before heading to Atlanta and other cities in March. The evening will be sponsored by Girls Rock Athens.
