Authorities Release Sketch of Suspect Wanted for Armed Robberies/Shooting of UGA Students

ACCPD

“We have not arrested an individual in the case so that person is still at large,” remarks from Athens-Clarke County Police Chief Cleveland Spruill.

Authorities are searching for a suspect wanted for the armed robbery of two UGA students and the shooting of one of them. According to the Athens-Clarke Police Department, officers responded to the scene at a bus stop in the 2100 block of Milledge Avenue around 7:17 this morning. They found the 22-year old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Athens-Clarke County Police Chief Cleveland Spruill held a press conference regarding the incidents early Monday afternoon.

“He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and that’s where he remains at this point,” according to Spruill.

The first victim, who was robbed at an apartment complex parking lot, was able to provide a description of the suspect.

“That description is of a black male, medium complexion, with dreads or twists in his hair. He was last seen leaving the scene in a white in color, Ford Mustang, late model with a tan [convertible] top.”

Investigators say the suspect has a gold or silver clasp in one of his braids or twists.

Spruill said the men appeared to be randomly selected. He urges those on and off campus to be alert.

“We’re asking not only students, but everyone to be vigilant. When you see something say something, contact the police and have us come out, even if you’re not 100 certain. We’d rather come and not be needed than be needed and not come."

A GBI sketch artist worked with witnesses on the drawing of the suspect.

According to an AP report, fis former high school lacrosse team in Milton, Georgia, identified him as Tate Prezzano, who is a junior at the University of Georgia.
