Athens News Matters: Panel for 8/16/19

On this week’s edition of The Panel, panelists Gwen O’Looney of WXAG, Blake Aued of Flagpole Magazine and Lee Shearer of the Athens Banner-Herald join moderator Alexia Ridley to discuss the Clarke County Board of Education's proposal to close down the West Broad Farmer’s Market, the Magill Society, the future of Georgia Square Mall in the wake of the Sears department store closing, and the University of Georgia’s plan to earmark $100,000 for research into slavery at the University of Georgia and Athens.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
