Gun Confiscated at Clarke Central High School

A Clarke County student is in custody after being accused of taking a gun onto school grounds.

According to a media release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Clarke Central High School was made aware that the student was in possession of a pistol while on school grounds.

The gun was found in the student’s back pack and confiscated. A juvenile complaint was filed against the 15-year old male for Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.

He was taken into custody by the ACCPD and transported to juvenile detention.

The release states: ACCPD and the Clarke County School District take the security of school children and employees seriously and encourage families to discuss the dangers of weapons in school.  Please remind your children to report any weapons or threats to an adult immediately.
