Barrow County authorities have arrested 22-year old Zantravious Shields in connection with a hit and run Sunday.
According to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Shields is charged with Felony Hit and Run, Felony Serious Injury by Vehicle, Failure to Report a Crash with Damage/injuries and other counts. Deputies say his vehicle hit the rear of a Jeep, knocking it off the road and into a tree.
A Facebook post by agency says around 4:30 Sunday morning, an accident with serious injuries was reported to the Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived at the scene on Highway 316 near Barber Creek Road, they found a black Jeep Cherokee which had been struck in the rear.
That caused the vehicle to leave the road and hit a tree.
The Sheriff’s Office identified Shields as the driver of the red Ford Escape wanted in connection with the accident.
The Winder resident turned himself in to the sheriff office around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.
