Six Athens policy-making boards, the Hearings Board and the Historic Preservation Commission are seeking candidates to fill some positions.
The six policy-making boards include:
- One position on the Athens-Clarke County Industrial Development Authority for a term of two years. Incumbents can reapply.
- Three positions on the Athens-Clarke County Library Board for a term of five years. Incumbents can reapply.
- One position on the Board of Elections for a term of four years. Incumbents can reapply.
- Two positions on the Construction Board of Appeals:
- one position for an architect/engineer for a term of five years with an appropriate professional State of Georgia license (Incumbents can reapply.)
- one position for an electrical contractor for a partial term expiring Nov. 30, 2022, with a valid and current State of Georgia unrestricted electrical contractor's license.
- One position on the Hearings Board for a partial term expiring June 30, 2020.
- Two positions on the Historic Preservation Commission for partial terms expiring June 30, 2020.
Applicants for any position, which are unpaid and volunteer, must be Athens-Clarke County residents. Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/clerkofcommission or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Ave. The deadline is Friday, Oct. 11.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29, and appointments are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
