A. Kamau Hull Launches Campaign for County Commission, District 8

Attorney A. Kamau Hull says he is officially launching his 2020 campaign for Athens-Clarke County Commission with an event at a black-owned business on the East Side.

Hull is running for the District 8 seat, currently held by Commissioner Andy Herod.

The Athens native says he is running to help “bridge the divide” between Athenians—particularly along generational, racial and class lines.

“As I began conversations with family, friends and colleagues about running for office, I came to realize that necessary voices are missing from the conversation,” said Hull, who owns The Hull Firm, LLC with his wife Nicole. “I will work to bring access, allies and accountability to the county commission.”

Hull says he plans to focus on working to build social and economic infrastructure, bringing more adult programming to the county to reduce recidivism and children’s programming to help end the school-to-prison pipeline. He also wants to bring more facilities to the East Side, such as a library.

The #HullYes Campaign Kickoff & Fundraiser will take place Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Cool World Ice Cream Shop (1040 Gaines School Road, Unit 218).
