Clarke County School District Seeking LSGT Members

Clarke County School District

The Clarke County School District is urging community members to considering joining a governance body for area schools. Parents, community members, faith leaders, and business representatives are encouraged to apply to serve on Local School Governance Teams, or LSGTs.

According to Lawrence Harris, Executive Director of Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships for the district, the positions carry a lot of weight.

“These teams exist at all 21 of our schools and they really work to foster communication and collaboration between schools, families and the community. They provide input into the local school decisions.”

Fenwick Broyard is the Community Support Specialist and will be working with those teams. He says they are aiming to put together the most diverse teams possible.

“Our goal is to get as many people coming forward as are interested in what’s going on in Clarke-County Schools right now, which I imagine is the majority of our community.”

He does want to clear up a common misconception.

“Some folks are under the impression they can only serve in the local school government team in the neighborhood that they live in and that’s not the case. We’ve got community seats, we’ve got at large seats.”

Some seats are reserved for parents or guardians. Interested applicants can apply through March 16th on the website at Clarke.k12.ga.us\lsgt. The district is also looking for members for the Parent Advisory Board, or PAB.
