Federal Authorities Remove Plane, Debris From Oconee County Crash Site

WSB

Federal investigators have removed the plane and debris from the crash site near Elder Road in Oconee County. Three people were killed in Monday evening’s crash. Their remains were taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for autopsy and identification. According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were on the scene within minutes of witnesses reporting the crash, unfortunately due a fire at the scene and several reported explosions, there were no survivors.

Officials said air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane while it was over Oconee County. The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane took off from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina and was headed to the Tuscaloosa National Airport in Alabama.
