Area Schools Closing for Two Weeks Due to Coronavirus Precautions

Barrow County Schools will close for two weeks starting Monday, March 16th. They will reopen Monday, March 30th. Over this period, schools and buses will continue to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected using COVID-19 approved cleaners. School officials ask families to wash backpacks, coats, and jackets as soon as possible as well.

The upcoming teacher Job Fair also cancelled. However, events planned for this weekend are still on.

Jackson County Schools are closing Monday the 16th through Monday the 30th. During this closing, there will be no extracurricular activities, sports, school events, or field trips. As additional information and guidance are provided, updates will be shared.

Oconee County schools also closed for two weeks, beginning Monday, March 16th and lasting until Monday, March 30th. During this closing, there will be no extracurricular activities, sports, school events, or field trips. As additional information and guidance are provided, updates will be shared.

Oglethorpe County Schools will be open Friday, but according to the school’s Facebook page, schools will be closed March 16th through 30th.  

Madison County Schools also closed for two weeks.
