Athens Library Temporarily Closing to Public

Athens Regional Library

The Athens Regional Library System announced Friday that all branches of the library system will be temporarily closed to the public Monday, March 16, through Sunday, March 29, in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The libraries will be closed through Sunday, March 29, with plans to reassess on Friday, March 27.

While library branches are closed, materials that are checked out will not accrue overdue fines. The library system’s online resources, including digital eBooks, audiobooks and magazines are available through the library’s website at www.athenslibrary.org. Other online resources, including research databases through GALILEO, are also available.

The library system has compiled a list of trusted public health resources on its website at www.athenslibrary.org  to help the community stay up to date on the latest coronavirus information.

The Athens Regional Library System includes 11 library branches in Athens-Clarke, Franklin, Madison, Oconee and Oglethorpe counties.
