Faculty, Staff, Students to Self-Isolate After Travel Abroad

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

All University of Georgia Faculty members, staff and students who traveled outside the country during Spring Break are not allowed back on campus of a UGA facility for at least 14 days.

President Jere Morehead, Provost S. Jack Hu and Garth Russo the Executive Director of the University Health Center sent out a campus-wide message regarding international travel Thursday evening.

The restriction went into effect after the State Department declared a Global Level 3 Health Advisory. That means anyone who has traveled outside the United States in the past 14 days must self-quarantine until they have been free of any systems of coronavirus for 14 after reentering the country.

That message was emphasized by Gov. Brian Kemp during his address to the state Thursday.

“If your doctor or medical provider has recommended isolation, or quarantine, it is critical for you to follow that advice to prevent the spread of this virus, even though you may not be experiencing symptoms,” according to Kemp. “If you ignore this medical advice you are literally endangering lives in our state. It is simply not worth it. Please, I beg you to please, do as we're asking you to do.”

Anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 is asked to notify the University Health Center at 706-542-1162 or www.uhs.uga.edu.
