Number of COVID-19 Cases Tops 3,000 in Georgia

Georgia now has over 3,000 cases of COVID-19. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there are 3,032 cases in the state, with 773 people hospitalized and 102 deaths. Fulton County continues to lead the state in the number of cases, with 503 and 16 deaths. Fulton is followed by DeKalb with 294 cases and three deaths. Dougherty County has 278 and leads the state in the number of deaths with 18. Cobb County has 250 and 11 dead from the virus.

Locally, Athens-Clarke County has 47 cases and five deaths. Three of Clarke cases are female and two are males. Oconee County has 12 cases, no deaths. Barrow has nine cases and two deaths, Madison County has three cases and a single death, while Jackson County has two cases.

People aged 18 to 59 make up the largest number of cases at 57%, those aged 60 and older comprise 35% of cases. The age is not known in 7% of cases while those 17 and younger account for 1% of those afflicted. 50% of the state's cases are in females, 48% male and two percent are not known.
