A murder suspect wanted in Morgan County has been arrested in Clarke County. According to a release from the department, 55-year old Tommy Joe Byrd was wanted for questioning in the murder of Jerald Jerome Bowden and ACCPD officers were on the lookout for him.
Officer Daniel Freeland spotted Byrd at an apartment complex on Baxter Drive. The GBI interviewed Byrd and he was taken into custody.
“The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is always willing to assist other agencies with serious investigations and apprehensions such as these. To get a potentially dangerous person off the streets and into custody is always a relief,” said Chief Cleveland Spruill.
