Coronavirus Cases in Georgia Top 200,000

Confirmed cases for Covid-19 in Georgia have reached a new milestone today. 

The Georgia Department of Public Health reports that there are 3,817 confirmed cases, bringing the total to over 200,000. Deaths are also nearing a milestone today, as 65 deaths bring the total to almost 4,000. There have also been 362 new hospitalizations.

 

The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that, today, more than half of the state’s total ER beds are now in use, 75% of critical care beds are occupied, and 82% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. It should be noted that bed occupancy is not solely due to Covid-19, but also a variety of afflictions and injuries. There remains a 56% availability for ventilators. 

According to the state health department, Clarke County is reporting 1,863 confirmed cases and 17 deaths. Barrow County has 1180 cases and 32 deaths. Jackson County has 1000 cases, 13 deaths. Madison County has 368 cases with five deaths, Oconee County is reporting 413 cases and 15 deaths, while Oglethorpe has 198 cases and seven deaths.
