Deadline to Apply for Small Business Grants & Loans

Athens-Clarke County

Time is running out for small business owners in Athens to apply for local emergency grants and loans through the Joint Development Authority. The money is funded through the ACC Government and federal CARES Act..

“The deadline is coming up Tuesday, September 22nd at midnight. Just Google terms for the “Joint Development Authority” and it will come right up as a top result. You’ll have the application right there online, and there's also information you can access to call into the city to get help filling out the application.

Commissioner Russell Edwards has more on how the process works.

“The applications are gonna be scored and then the final review and approval is gonna occur on September 24th, and we're gonna notify the loan or the grant recipients via email on Friday, September 25th.”

Edwards explains who qualifies.

“Qualified businesses: 10 employees or less, and these are for businesses that can demonstrate their ongoing commitment and investment into our local community who have suffered a business loss during COVID-19.”

The application window for funds through the Northeast Georgia Business Alliance is still open until September 30th.

“The maximum combined award, loan and grant per-applicant, ranges from $3,751 to $20,600.”

Information about the grants and loans, as well as the application, are available at sites.google.com.
