ACC Mayor & Commisson to Hold Special Called Session

Athens-Clarke County Government

The Mayor and Commission will meet at 5:30 pm today for a special called session.

This evening, the Mayor and Commission will vote to approve an amendment to the annual operating and capital budget for the 2021 fiscal year. The goal of the amendment is to allocate money for expenses related to the acquisition of the Rock Hill Quarry, which will cost the Athens-Clarke County Government $23 million and be used as a long-term water storage facility.

The proposed budget includes an increase of $11,250,000 to improve water supply reliability, and a $5 million decrease in funds to replace and upgrade facilities and equipment. Other items that will experience budget decreases include sewer replacements, the water transmission grid, and downtown infrastructure improvements.

The meeting can be viewed live at 5:30 pm on YouTube.com/accgov or on the Athens-Clarke County Facebook page.
