UGA Sees Decrease in COVID-19 Positivity Rate

Atlanta Journal-Constitution

New results from surveillance testing on UGA’s campus have shown an increase in total tests and a decrease in the rate of positive tests.

The University tested 2,225 members of the faculty, staff, and student body, and came back with a positivity rate of just over 1%. Combined with the number of cases reported through DawgCheck, and other unspecified locations on campus, there were 71 new cases reported from UGA for the week of November 2nd through 8th. That brings the total number of cases in the UGA community to 4,204.

According to the latest figures from the Georgia Department of Public Health, there are more than 377-thousand total cases of coronavirus in the state [377,694] and 8,333 confirmed deaths. The department attributes another 473 probable deaths to the disease.

As for Athens-Clarke County, the total number of cases reached 6,118 with 50 deaths.
