Local COVID-19 Infection Rates Increase

Athens-Clarke County’s case rate for new COVID-19 infections increased over the past week, up to 257 per 100 thousand population from 222, and 200 the week before. 

 

The infection rate is still lower than a peak in September. 

Jackson County continues to have the highest COVID-19 infection rate among Athens area counties at 373 per 100 thousand, Madison is at 282, Barrow at 194, Oglethorpe at 184, and Oconee the lowest at 134. 

 

UGA also reported 87 positive COVID-19 tests for the week ending November 8th. UGA’s case rate remains far below its September peak of more than 1,400.
