The Athens-Clarke County Police Department announced the arrest of 20-year-old Athens resident, Kenya Trevion Yearby for the fatal shooting of Keshawn Gainer that occurred on Dec. 3.
According to a release from the department, Yearby was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with malice murder for the incident that took place on Westchester Circle. The victim, 15-year-old Gainer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
ACCPD will now turn the case over to the District Attorney’s Office for further consideration and prosecution.
