ESP Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Miracle League Field

ESP Inc. Twitter

ESP holding a groundbreaking celebration for its new Miracle League Field. The new fully-accessible playground and sports field is located at Harris Shoals Park in Watkinsville.

Laura Whitaker is Executive Director of Extra Special People.

“We actually launched this idea and this partnership with the Miracle League over at Foley Field, two years ago in August, and the dream was a fully accessible baseball field where kids, of all abilities, will have the opportunity to play baseball, to be cheered on just like every other kid.”

Whitaker says once completed; the facility will have a long-lasting impact in the community.

“It’s a fully accessible, universally-designed playground, where kids with and without disabilities will have the opportunity to play together. We know through research that if kids with disabilities and kids without disabilities don’t have any barriers while they play, any physical barriers while they play. Not only will they play together when they're young, but they will continue to play together throughout the trajectory of their life.”

ESP raised $1.8 million for The Miracle League Field. There will also be a training-facilitated concession stand to provide job skills for people with disabilities.

There are 300 communities around the nation with similar facilities.
