@AADMovement via Facebook

The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is holding a Grand Opening for its Justice Center this Saturday, January 16th. The event will feature guest speakers including Mayor Kelly Girtz, District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez, and Sheriff John Q. Williams. Mokah Jasmine Johnson is president and co-founder of the AADM.

Johnson says the center will address a variety of community needs.

“This facility is going to address people that are dealing with mass incarceration, and also people that want to get resources and support for knowing how to protect their rights and also be a safe space for the youth.”

The event takes place from 12 to 5 pm. A short documentary on the AADM, the Justice Center, and a look behind the scenes at the effort to bring it to fruition will be available on the AADM’s website.
