New Georgia Senators Ossoff and Reverend Warnock Sworn In

Yesterday’s peaceful transfer of power that we saw on the steps of the Capital continued to the floor of the Senate as Georgia Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock were sworn in. Devon Zwald reports on what we can expect as Democrats take control of Congress.

"It may seem like the next few years will be easy going for the Biden Administration, since his party, the Democrats, have control of the House of Representatives and the Senate now that Ossoff and Warnock have been sworn in. However, that may not be the case."

Anthony Madonna, an associate professor of political science at the University of Georgia explains:

“Filibuster is a threat. And so, for a lot of legislative priorities that I think progressive groups have been championing, it's unlikely that they'll get through the Senate. And even apart from the Senate, I think a lot of people are also sleeping on just this small house majority.”
