Athens Hit and Run Leaves One Dead

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating a Tuesday hit and run collision which left an Athens woman dead. A department release states 32-year-old Angelica Johnson was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on the outer loop between Lexington Road and Olympic Drive when she got out of the vehicle. Police say she was then hit by a dark colored pickup truck with chrome bed rails. Johnson was taken to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.  

Both vehicles left the scene, but police have identified the driver and recovered the vehicle Johnson was traveling in.

This is the 11th fatal motor vehicle crash of 2021 in Athens-Clarke County.
