In an interview with Fox News this morning, Kemp revealed that the state will block jobless Georgians from receiving the extra $300 per week that’s been provided by the federal government on top of their state unemployment checks during the pandemic.
He follows the lead of 13 other GOP-controlled states that have done the same and said that employers are demanding that the state do more to force people into the workforce.
Once the change takes effect on June 26, the maximum weekly benefit in the state for jobless filers is $365 per week, with most receiving much less than that.
