A Call to Criminally Investigate ACC Manager Blaine Williams is Dismissed

elgl.org

Athens Politics Nerd reported yesterday that the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia has dismissed a call to criminally investigate Athens Clarke County Manager Blaine Williams’ alleged obstruction in an open records request in 2018.

In June, Clarke County auditor Stephanie Maddox accused Williams and Mayor Kelly Girtz of discrimination and harassment surrounding Maddox’s formal request for information on the local government’s 2018 wage study.

The council stated that the statute of limitations for interference into an open records request is two years and has already expired. They also draw from an unreleased investigation into the matter from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which found “evidence of a hostile work environment in the city auditor’s office created by Ms. Maddox.”
