UGA Soccer is on the road tonight for a second-round game in the NCAA women’s soccer tournament. They face two-seed North Carolina at 6 pm.
Tonight's game marks Georgia's first time advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament since 2011. If Georgia wins tonight, they’ll make the round of 16 for just the second time in program history.
But, teams from the Tarheel State have proven to be an Achilles heel for UGA in the NCAA tournament over the years. Georgia's last three second round losses have come at the hands of teams from North Carolina. They lost to Duke in 2007 and 2011 and to UNC in 2009.
If Georgia wins in Thursday's game, it will likely be thanks in part to a robust defense and the play of standout freshman goalkeeper Jordan Brown. In her first year of college play, Brown recorded five shutouts in seven starts. Overall, the team has recorded 12 shutouts this season, a tie for the most in program history.
