Georgia’s unemployment rate remains low for the eighth consecutive month, according to Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson.

At the end of March, Georgia recorded a 3.1 percent unemployment rate. The state has maintained that number since September 2022. It is four-tenths lower than the national unemployment rate of 3.5 percent.

Georgia’s labor force increased for the sixth consecutive month by 12,872. The most significant one-month increase since January of last year.

In February, Georgia held the highest labor force participation in the southeast at 61.1 percent, as well as the highest employment-to-population ratio in the region at 59.2 percent.

The University of Georgia was listed as one of Georgia’s top five employers, featuring 900 job listings online in March.
