Georgia Congressman Andrew Clyde is among Republican hardliners expected to vote against a deal on raising the nation's debt ceiling.

The U.S. House is expected to take up the measure Wednesday night. It aims to limit federal budget growth to 1% for the next six years. The deal would suspend the debt limit until 2025

At a House Freedom Caucus news conference in Washington, Clyde described that as a "blank check."

"The federal government can spend unlimited amounts of money - your hard earned tax dollars - until that date, then they can plus up their cash on hand to 'normal operating levels' at the end of it," Clyde said.

Georgia Representative Mike Collins, who represents Athens, also opposes the deal, saying in a statement yesterday he will vote against it.

"While there are good pieces to the deal, it doesn’t go far enough," the statement said in part. "Supporting this legislation would send the wrong message about how seriously we must take our debt problem."

Other Georgia US representatives, including Republicans, Marjorie Taylor Green and Buddy Carter, have said they will support the deal.
