The Biden administration is marking the start of pride month with a series of initiatives to signal their solidarity with LGBTQI+ communities.
The administration announced it's plans to combat discriminatory laws enacted by over a dozen states this year with a new LGBTQI+ Community Safety Partnership, initiatives to address queer youth homelessness, efforts to resist the growing threat that book bans pose for the civil rights of LGBTQI+ students and more.
The administration's announcement comes just days after The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBTGI+ advocacy organization, declared a state of emergency for gender and sexual minorities in the United States. The campaign noted the more than 525 anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced this year and more than 70 signed into law so far.
