UGA software may have been breached

A cybercriminal group may have breached University System of Georgia software.

Progress Software, the maker of MOVEit, says its software had a vulnerability that allowed hackers “unauthorized access” to information. USG purchased the software to transfer and store sensitive data.

In a statement, the system reported that they quickly took Progress Software’s recommendations to limit the software’s access to the internet and other steps to fix the code.

The system says its cybersecurity experts are still determining what, if any, data was compromised, and added that anyone affected would be notified.

“USG’s cybersecurity experts are evaluating the scope and severity of this potential data exposure,” the USG stated. “If necessary, consistent with federal and state law, notifications will be issued to any individuals affected.”
