The Clarke County Board of Elections is considering changing the location of six Election Day voting sites and precinct lines, as well as one new voting site location.
Residents’ voting precincts will not change under the new proposal, only the location where people would vote in-person on Election Day. Voters affected by the change, if it is approved, will receive a new precinct card at least 90 days before the Presidential Preference Primary on March 12th, 2024.
Redevelopment, space limitations, and parking issues at the Georgia Square Mall and Transit Multimodal Transportation Center are among the reasons cited for the new change. Elections officials say the other changes will make voting locations more centrally located.
Two public hearings will be held to hear from voters on June 20th and June 27th. The Board of Elections will vote on the new voting locations and precinct lines on Tuesday, July 11th.
