Six people have been arrested as part of a drug enforcement operation in the Athens area. Over two days, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, the Northeast Georgia Drug Task Force, and ACC police raided three locations Clarke, Madison, and Barrow. Amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and firearms were seized.

Police say each of the suspects arrested did have a connection with Athens-Clarke County. Some of the fentanyl, a drug blamed for deaths and numerous drug overdoses by users, was prepared as counterfeit oxycodone, a pain pill available through prescription. Police have not released the suspects' names or the exact charges filed against them.
