Georgia officials have denounced the recent neo-nazi demonstrations that occurred outside Jewish synagogues.
A group of around 10 neo-nazis gathered outside of an East Cobb synagogue during Saturday’s service. The demonstrators waved swastika flags and antisemitic propaganda. This comes after a different neo-nazi demonstration outside Temple Beth Israel in downtown Macon.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp released a statement where he said, “There is absolutely no place for this hate and antisemitism in our state. I share in the outrage over this shameful act and stand with Georgians everywhere in condemning it,” Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said in a statement. “We remain vigilant in the face of these disgusting acts of bigotry.”
“Georgia’s Jewish community will never be intimidated by anti-semitism. Today, as symbols of genocide were paraded in front of synagogues, we continue to stand strong, proud, and unbowed,” Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff declared. “All Georgians are united in our rejection of bigotry and hate.”
Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock tweeted “[Anti-Semitism] has got to stop.” Warnock also offered out his prayers to the Jewish community.
Anti-Semitic incidents continue to rise in the United States, with a 120% increase in antisemitic incidents from 2021 to 2022.
