As we go to air today, the Clarke County Board of Education is holding the first of two millage rate hearings, with another one tomorrow at 6:00 with a vote on budget scheduled tomorrow as well. The current school board budget is set to keep the millage rate the same as last year, which could result in an increase in property taxes for some county residents. However, some board and community members are calling for a lowering of the rate. Tim Denson is a member of the Clarke County Board of Education and spoke with WUGA’s Martin Matheny.
