National Suicide Hotline number change to 988 receives more callers and new concerns

Starting July 16, people in mental health crisis will have a new three-digit number, 988, through which to reach trained counselors.

The new national suicide hotline number is reaching many more people in need, but some are concerned about the potential consequences of reaching out.
